Bruce Willis textures

Here's the latest on my Bruce Willis sculpture. I've painted in the beard and hair stubble and most of the specularity. As usual YouTube's compression made his skin look a little darker than it is.

This is how the coloring should look.

Epic bottle & liquid

I received permission from Epic Studios to show some stuff I did for them back in September. This is a bottle I modeled and textured.

Here's a YouTube video of some medicine that goes in the bottle. Here we were showing the powdered medicine being dissolved into water. I modeled and animated the chunks that are spinning horizontally and floating up and down.

Bruce Willis update

After retopology I've moved on to texturing and finer details. Here you can see a basic base for the skin texture and a few finer wrinkles

Bruce Willis

Here's the latest WIP of my Bruce Willis sculpture on YouTube. Next I will retopologize him and start on the finer details and textures. I've decided to do the textures with Ptex instead of UV mapping. It's my first real try with Ptex, so I hope it will work out.

Tutorials

Unity
A while back I wrote a tutorial on getting LightWave objects into the Unity 3D game engine and setting up a simple environment to run around in. This tutorial was published in the November 2009 LightWave newsletter. Unfortunately the URL of that newsletter changes every month so I can't link to it, but I can link to the files.

This is the actual tutorial in PDF form:

Here are some sample objects that were used in the tutorial. You may also recognize them from my demo reel.

This is a final playable version of the "game".

You will need to have the Unity Web Player installed. You can get that here:

Tire tread
Also recently someone asked me to explain how I did the tread for my tires on the Audi R8 model I'm currently working on. So I wrote up a quick tutorial explaining how that was done in Photoshop and 3D-Coat, the exported to LightWave.

Here is the tutorialin PDF format:

And this is the tire tread photo I used for reference:

Slacking

Sorry I've been slacking off on my posts but I'm always available on Twitter if you are interested. Also this WIPs & News section of the site is based on Blogger and since Google has decided to disable FTP support for Blogger this section may be changing soon as I'm looking at installing Word Press if I can figure out how to do that and move all of my posts to it.

Anyway Here's some Videos I put up on YouTube recently:

This is an anime music video (AMV) I made back in 2001, it was shown at Otakon that year:

This is not actually mine, but a very cool demonstration of the new VPR rendering in LightWave CORE:

This quick one answers the question "What if I want to edit my Ptex texture in Photoshop?":
